Chapter 7

Asha lay beneath Leo’s solid weight, relishing the sense of . . . what? Completeness? Wholeness? Whatever it was, it was totally new to her. What they had just done astounded her. She’d never imagined a connection such as that, with Leo inside her, her body not only welcoming his but clasping him so tightly she wondered if she could have held him prisoner merely with those amazingly strong muscles inside her sheath.

He was still inside her, though not nearly as big and hard as he’d been during . . . what? It wasn’t just sex. It had felt like so much more, but maybe because that was how she wanted it to feel. Like it mattered. Maybe it didn’t really matter that much to Leo, though she’d been in his head when he’d climaxed, and his thoughts had been all over the place, as if maybe he was as confused right now as she was.

Hard to believe that, though. Her few female friends that she’d had over the years—human daughters in a couple of houses, a female snow leopard in another who had been like her—didn’t have a very high opinion of the male of the species. Still, she and Leo had connected, much more deeply than she’d ever imagined. She’d been Leo, filling the female Asha, sharing what it felt like until they’d both been ensnared by a loop of overwhelming sexual stimulation. It had been terrifying, it had been unbelievable, and it scared her half to death.

She wanted to do it again. Leo had fallen asleep on her, and it was rather sweet, really, but he was a big man and she didn’t think she wanted to sleep this way. On the other hand, she liked having him inside her. Rolling slightly to one side, she got herself situated face-to-face with Leo and managed to stay connected with him.

Now that hadn’t been too difficult to figure out. Resting her head on his muscular arm, she drifted away in sleep. Tomorrow they’d shop. She’d get clothing so she could go out among humans—so she could explore the world with Leo.
